Biodiversity Partnership Mesoamerica (BPM)

Objective(s) of the engagement

FAO and Biodiversity Partnership Mesoamerica (BPM) aim to foster innovation on and to strengthen experiences focused on the sustainable use and conservation of biodiversity for food and agriculture in Central America. The collaboration will promote joint, coordinated and complementary actions that will directly support rural small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), producer organizations, cooperatives and associations to increase their economic opportunities through sustainable and resilient value chains that are based on biodiversity products and services.

Progress to date
  • Organization of virtual meetings and webinars, that highlight central issues of this cooperation in the Central America region: i) Sustainable business models for biodiversity; ii) The role of the private sector for the conservation of biodiversity and adaptation to climate change; iii) Climate, biodiversity and the challenges for public and private articulation, related to COP 27 and the previous COP15 of Biodiversity.
  • BPM participated in the Investment Forum organized by FAO in 2022.
