Objective(s) of the engagement

FAO and The Pew Charitable Trusts agreed to promote their common objectives of the long-term conservation and sustainable use of aquatic resources. Through this joint collaboration, more states will be assisted to effectively implement measures and improve their monitoring, control and surveillance of fishing operations in order to combat illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing.

  • Support the implementation of the Strategy to increase the effectiveness of the PSMA.
  • Promotion of the PSMA Global Information Exchange System (GIES).
  • Promotion of the recommendations of the 4th session of the Joint FAO/ILO/IMO Ad Hoc Working Group on IUU Fishing and Related Matters.
