Bilateral meeting with the Swiss Confederation FAO National Committee

Rome - Director-General QU Dongyu and the Swiss Confederation FAO National Committee met on 4 June 2024 at FAO headquarters in Rome. The Committee President, Dr Martijn Sonnevelt, led the conversation with the Director-General. Also present were Dr Jean-Marc Chappuis, Deputy Director-General, Swiss Federal Office for Agriculture; H.E. Amb. Krisztina Bende Permanent Representative of the Swiss Confederation to FAO and the members of the Committee.

Geneva – On the occasion of his trip to Geneva for the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) and the Conference on AI for Good, FAO Director-General QU Dongyu signed Memorandum of Understandings with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).

Geneva - FAO Director-General QU Dongyu, today visited the Union Maraîchère de Genève (UMG), a cooperative of 31 vegetable farmers, where sustainable practices have been adopted throughout the line of production, including farming, processing, packaging and marketing.

Director-General wraps up Joint Meeting of FAO Programme and Finance Committees

Rome - Director-General QU Dongyu today thanked Members of FAO’s Programme and Finance Committees for supporting key initiatives implemented by the Organization. Speaking at the end of the 138th Session of the Programme Committee and the 199th Session of the Finance Committee, Qu also hailed pledges of increased funding as “an ongoing and strong expression of confidence and trust in FAO.”

City of San Marino - FAO Director-General QU Dongyu today paid an official visit to the Republic of San Marino. He attended a Public Audience granted by the Republic’s joint heads of state the Captains Regent Alessandro Rossi and Milena Gasperoni during which he delivered a statement to the State television broadcasting company San Marino RTV.

San Marino - During his visit to the Republic to San Marino on 23 May, Their Excellencies the Captains Regent Alessandro Rossi and Milena Gasperoni granted a Public Audience in honour of the FAO Director-General, QU Dongyu. During the Audience, the Director-General emphasized that it had been his long-term objective to visit San Marino and he praised H.E. Daniela Rotondaro, Permanent Representative to FAO, for her valuable contribution to FAO through her active engagement in the FAO Governing Bodies.
