Hello everyone! I work with the USA-based NGO Mercy Corps in Kabul, Afghanistan. Currently, we are looking at a means of providing price and technical information to farmers, traders, wholesalers, etc. This project is in its early stages, but we are collaborating with a mobile provider to assist in rolling out the project. We hope to have the Afghan gov't involved as well in the future. I am particularly interested in hearing about other projects in Asia and sharing ideas! Kristi Tabaj

:D India holds the largest cattle wealth. More than 50% buffalo is also in India. Even in sheep and goat its not behind any countries. However the percapita consumption of livestock products is one of the lowest. Natural growth of livestock contributes more than 30% of Agri GDP. Though the budget allocation is less than1% livestock sector contributes more than 5% of the GDP. The question is how to make the industry more lively and productive.

I have invented US & Canadian patented solar powered portable greenhouse to grow hydroponics fodder. Please visit www.greenfield-hydroponics.com for technical details. It is proven that high nutritive fodder reduces up to 50% cattle feed requirement and increases 25% higher milk yield. Techno-Economical viability is discussed with NABARD and bank finance is available. Insurance also is available on our greenhouses including on solar modules and windmill. To boost up milk production and create employment for women, marginal and landless farmers, I have developed Micro Dairy, Micro Goat Breeding projects that I am introducing in India and other developing countries through Greenfield Foundation I have formed. Please visit www.greenfield-ngo.org I was called by IVRI to conduct seminar on Hydroponics fodder and to help find solution to meet with India's 40% feed deficit and IVRI is convinced that hydroponics is the solution. I also have suggested that India should have data bank of pedigree of livestock and should have national registry. Regardless of how much money is budgeted, unless scientific approach is not taken, our livestock industry will not be productive and profitable.
