hello Ekanath, thank you for your comment and questions. Regarding GIEWS (Global Information and Early Warning System on food and agriculture) http://www.fao.org/GIEWS :arrow: GIEWS is actually a system, or network of participating and client institutions and organizations, implemented by FAO's ESTG Service in Rome. Other FAO units (e.g. ECLO, EMPRES and Livestock early warning group) are also part of the system. Most members are from the public or NGO sectors, but there is also collaboration with private firms, primarily in two areas. The first has been satellite data acquisition and imagery processing. The second has been with firms in the insurance and re-insurance sectors. These companies are also very interested in understanding global climatic and agro-climatic trends, and prospects for the nature and frequencies of natural disasters in various parts of the world in the short- and medium-terms.
