I facilitate a D-group that tries to assemble together relevant information on the topic of linking smallholders to markets. For now, members are mainly researchers and development specialists. NGOs involved in market linkages are joining; there are not that many producers for now. In theory, this D-group could become an ICT for small producers and SMEs or the support organizations trying to help them develop value chains to ask questions and advice directly from other experts and peers. Good day all, Thank you Jo. This tool is very useful. It helps the small farmers to know where to sell and make good fortunes. Most time the middlemen make all the profits while the farmer gets back to square one. The tool will help the farmers to know what to plant and how to increase the desired qualities. Although figures about World internet penetration rates in 2008 shows African to be the least (5.3%) ; Nigerian government have implemented substantial e-government projects and Cross River State have placed e-government initiatives at the heart of their state ICT strategies. Access to the internet is considered by most commentators to be a positive good within society, and of importance to all social groups in all countries - in particular, to rich and poor, and to men and women. However, access is constrained by many factors - in particular by the availability of infrastructure, including communications networks and computers; by the cost of computers, connectivity and internet access; and by the availability of relevant skills, including literacy. The open nature of the Internet is seen as part of its uniqueness, and its importance as a tool to advance human development . Internet users trade ideas and information and build on both, thus increasing the wealth of knowledge for everyone, today and in the future. The openness of the Internet should be seen as a key feature to ensure its stability and security. Thanks Sonigitu
