Hello to you all, I am Magdalena Marenga, senior librarian at the Faculty of Agriculture and Natural Resources, University of Namibia, and would like to learn from colleagues from the global village as to how one should use technology to benefit rural communities. I must confess also that I am hoping to tackle the issue of how information professionals and extension workers can work together to make a difference to the livelihoods of rural communities for a PhD thesis/dissertation in ther near future. Mobile telephony would surely be important to bring rural people closer to development and ease of communication. :razz:

Magdalena, I absolutely agree with you on the idea of having information professionals and extension workers working together. That's why I work on the Web to build [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Community_of_practice]Communities of Practice [/url]and online networks. One of the aim of this online conversation can be to find together the way to do similar activities using a different device. I hope many will contribute to this topic.
