Hi , At AgriWatch, we focus on provding research , information & advise in the Agri sector in India. Something which we have been doing for over 8 years in this domain & have found good acceptance of our work. Our core area of focus is providing research and information on food & agri space, with special focus on the Indian markets. Over the years, we have build linkeages between the farmers and the corproate world , providing success to the various farming initatives. One of the key things that we are currently focused is, to dissiminate information to the farmers using Mobile, given the huge penetration of same in the rural indian markets. We are working very closely with some of the large operators to channelise a lot of our research content via the sms services, this includes good agricutlure practice, weather advisory and crop prices etc. look forward to hearing from various other participants about their expereince in this domain in your resepctive countries. regards

Dear Ravishankar, welcome to this online discussion on Mobile Telephony. We know that India is actually a leading country in this topic and we hope you will share with us your experiences and best examples. This week the conversation is focusing on "[url=http://www.e-agriculture.org/550.html?&no_cache=1&view=single_conf&cat_… can we prove to others that what we are talking about actually has a positive impact on rural livelihoods? How can we monitor the impact?[/url]". It would be interesting to know what the AgriWatch experience is on this topic. Cheers! Luca (FAO)

Dear Luca We are working on this currently. One big thing which we feel is imporant, would be to provide economic decision making support. My personal belief, is that , today the farmers in india are becoming aware, but that awareness would have to be necessarily translate into an propoer economic decision making. else the service will be defunct for him.
