Hi all (and sorry for my late introduction!), my name is Simone Sala and I graduated in Information and Communication Technologies at the University of Milan, after a four-month research in FAO on the applications of Information and Communication for Development to Natural Resources management and Climate Change Adaptation in Developing Countries. The focus of my studies and experiences is ICT for Development. I managed an ICT-based cooperation project in Upper West region of Ghana for an Italian Ngo (RAY Foundation). I am currently involved in a joint programme of FAO and the Italian Ministry for Environment and Territory, on the topic of Communication for Development in Natural Resources Management and Climate Change Adaptation. Within this project I work on information issues and ICT applications. At the moment, I am also a PhD student at the University of Milan (Faculty of Agriculture), where I can deepen the application of GIS and other ICT tools for supporting environmental and food security. I am sure that this forum will provide me useful insights about the application of mobile devices in the development context. I am particularly interested in testing the dissemination of key information through mobile devices to farmers who are facing climate variability and change.

Dear Simone, thanks for your introduction. It seems like you have much experience to share with the participants to these conversations on mobile telephony. So if you have good examples to describe, please contribute to the following discussion on "". On the other hand, feel free to contribute also to the current discussion which is mainly focusing on "" Benvenuto! Luca (FAO)
