Presently working as Principal Scientist and Head ,Department of Extension and Communication Management ,College of Home Science, Assam Agricultural University. Born in Jorhat, educated in Jorhat Government Girls Higher Secondary School, graduated from Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat, Masters from Panjab University, Chandigarh and Doctoral from Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana. Working as a Technical Coordinator of Extension Education under AICRP –Home Science from 2004 t0 2013 and again from 2017 onwards ,involved in strategically planning, implementing, monitoring different research projects , analysis and compilation of data from nine AICRP centres operating across nine state agricultural universities in India, report writing , manuscript designing and presenting in workshops, annual meetings. Completed 36 years teaching ,research and extension. Presented research papers in international, national , regional seminars and conferences. Chaired national, regional seminars and workshops Delivered papers and lectures as resource person. Published research papers in national journals ,book chapters ,extension bulletins. Life member in 12 professional societies.
Areas of interest being gender issues, agriculture and women empowerment, working for sustainable development of rural disadvantageous women by working at grass root level. Organised women into groups namely Self Help Groups, community interest groups taking their need, interest and capacity in terms of knowledge and skill into consideration. Young rural women and school drop outs are trained for achieving economic independence ,few of them are supplementing their family income, opened bank account in their own name .With the certificate given by us are recognised as ‘trainer’ hence engaged in imparting training under skill development programme of Govt of India.
