I’m an expert in earth observation tools, remote sensing and geospatial modelling of landscape dynamics, including crop production, cropping systems, and scenario assessment of land use and climate effects in relation to pests, diseases and beneficial insects. In specific, my thematic working areas include crops and cropping systems mapping for agricultural productivity and food security, assessing and forecasting crop produce, crop health constraints, flower mapping, weeds and invasive plants mapping, assessing ecosystems services, vegetation diversity and fragmentation in small localized as well as large scale sites. My primary interest is to optimize and use machine learning methodological approaches for better assessments of landscape dynamics and climate effects in relation to plant, environment and animal health constraints. I have been working in Africa for over 12 years and have strong background in utilizing geospatial modelling and earth observation tools to improve the management of agroecological systems and crops pest and disease risks. I enjoy interdisciplinary research and teaching and have been working in close collaboration with agronomists, entomologists, pathologists, geographers and ecologists.
