I am an Agriculturist and completed MS in Environmental Science. As a development practitioner, about 30 years of field experience. Out of 30 years, about 23 years exclusively worked on, livelihood, food security, nutrition, Disaster Risk Reduction, climate change adaptation, rehabilitation of climate refugees, value chain development for the extremely poor, resource-poor, and vulnerable communities in a disaster-prone area of Bangladesh. Worked in the Canadian CIDA funded RVCC Project of CARE Bangladesh, APFED Awarded project Disappearing Lands: Supporting Communities Affected by River Erosion Project (funded by Big Lottery Fund, UK) and Pathways From Poverty (PFP)-shiree Project (funded by DFID) under Practical Action Bangladesh, Disaster and Climate Risk Management in Agriculture (DCRMA) Project of CDMP-II (funded by UNDP, UKaid, European Union, Norwegian Embassy, Sweden, Australian Aid, and GoB) implemented by Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) and Food Security Mymensingh-Sherpur Project of FAO (funded by Italian Trust-Charity fund). Rest 7 years worked in the private sector, R & D farm on vegetable seed production, and also worked as a Consultant (DRR, CCA, and Livelihoods).
Major activities revolved around project development, project management, implementation and monitoring of project, annual and multi-year budget preparation, budget monitoring, negotiation with the donor, annual work plan (AWP) development, linkage and networking, livelihoods security, capacity building for alternative livelihoods, food security, nutrition, DRR and CCA, asset transfer, job employment, etc. Developed partnership involving NGOs, GO, civil society organizations and leaded awareness campaigns, advocacy initiatives on potable water for coastal areas, etc. Develop, coordinated, and implemented emergency response program for the flood-affected and cold wave affected community of greater Rangpur district. Coordinated evacuation of flood-affected HHs with assets and live stocks into the safe place by the developed volunteers Organized and facilitated regional and national level workshops. Having extensive working experience with various development actors, including government agencies, civil society bodies, GoB, NGOs, and LGIs. Addressed inter- conflicts and promoted multi-sectoral coordination. Wrote Project Report where applicable and published a few research-based works in the form of articles. Having adequate experience in using computers (e.g. MS Office etc.). Liaison and network with donors, line departments, NARS, LEBs, local and regional administration, etc.
As a Consultant conducted evaluation of the ICCO Cooperation funded project of CODEC, Chittagong named SMART Project and Impact study of GoB funded Integrated Agricultural Development Project in Pirojpur-Gopalgonj-Bagerhat (IADPPGB) of Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE). Worked in the preparatory phase of World Bank-funded Climate Smart Agriculture and Water Management Project of Bangladesh Water Development. Developed training module and facilitated training of project & PNGOs staff on DRR and CCA under Children Centered Climate Change Project of Save the Children, Local Government Initiative on Climate Change (LoGIC) Project, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and) Strengthening the Capacity of Community Service Provider on Farmers Field School (FFS) under the Project OSRO/BGD/NET" at Cox's Bazar under SAFE PLUS Programme of FAO. Developed Training module on Green Climate Fund-Procedures and Mechanism for PKSF, IDCOL (Direct Accredited Entities), and Executive Entities of Bangladesh.
Developed different types of training modules, technical handouts, guidelines, brochures, leaflets, booklets, posters on livelihood, Disaster Risk Reduction, Climate Change Adaptation, marketing, crop management.
Have extensive working experience with various development actors, including government agencies (DAE, DoF, DLS, DoE, DoH, etc.), civil society bodies, INGOs, national NGOs, and LGIs.
Mr. Rahman affiliated with the professional organization and playing an active role in the organization. He is a Life Member of “Krishibid Institution, Bangladesh (KIB)” and “Society for Conservation of Environment and Natural Resources (SCENR) in BAU, Bangladesh Agricultural Extension Network (BAEN).
