FAO Representative in Egypt: Nasredin Hag Elamin

Mr. Hag Elamin, a ntional of Sudan, holds a B.Sc. in Agricultural Economics from the University of Khartoum, Sudan, a M.Sc. in Trade and Development and a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Lancaster, England.

Mr. Hag Elamin started his career in 1990 at the University of Khartoum, Sudan, as Assistant Professor of agricultural economics. He joined FAO in 1999 as Trade Economist where he worked extensively on analysis and policy advice of trade and WTO issues in agriculture and food security.

From 2004 to 2008, he served as Policy Officer in the FAO Regional Office for the Near East and from 2009 to 2014 as a Senior Policy Officer and head of the policy assistance group in the same Office. Between March 2015 to August 2019 he served as FAO Representative in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

Mr. Hag Elamin has extensive experience, with more than 30 years, in advising countries on policies, strategies and programmes for sustainable agriculture development, natural resources management, food security, trade and agriculture related issues of the WTO Agreements. He led many FAO programmes and projects dealing with analysis, capacity building and advisory work in these areas. He has produced numerous FAO advisory and technical reports and training material, and published several journal articles, books and reports on agriculture, food security and trade.

Mr. Hag Elamin submitted his credentials to the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to succeed Mr. Hussein Gadain as FAO Representative in Egypt.
