New FAO data highlights gender gap in food insecurity across regions
Women are more likely to be food insecure than men in every region of the world, according to FAO’s latest report on the State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World 2017.
The report, which was released earlier this month, is the result of a collaboration between the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), the World Food Programme (WFP) and the World Health Organization (WHO), and features data from a new source of additional evidence on the state of food security, known as the Food Insecurity Experience Scale (FIES).
