“Ferma Stoian – Legume românești” (“Stoian Farm – Romanian Vegetables”) carries the family tradition forward

“Ferma Stoian – Legume românești” (“Stoian Farm – Romanian Vegetables”) started off in 1992 as a family business. The, following the retrocession of the agricultural lands, the family got an area of seven hectares, on which it cultivated cabbage in the first year. At that moment, the work was performed by the Stoian family, along with only three employees and the equipment rented from the AMS (Agricultural Machine Section). In the over 20 years of activity, Florin Stoian, the administrator of Big Land Company S.R.L. and the president of Stoian Land Agricultural Cooperative got to develop a farm whose turnover exceeds three million Euros. In 1995, due to the high quality of the crop, the land area cultivated with vegetables increased to 40-50 hectares. Thus, Stoian, care farm had already purchased two tractors, started developing its base of machineries, getting to the point of holding 21 tractors today. In 1999, it worked an area of 150 hectares of land, in 2005, it extended to approximately 400 hectares, and the cultivated area has currently reached over 700 hectares. Last year, Stoian Farm cultivated vegetables on an area of approximately 550 hectares, to which the land cultivated with cereals add, for the crop rotation.
