One may say about Mihail Mucsi that he is a „former” scientific researcher of the potato crop. But this is not true. Even if he no longer holds this position he occupied for 15 years (when he also held his Ph.D. thesis in agronomical science with a very import and topical subject - „Increasing the Potato Starch Content for Industrialization”), now one can say he deals with „applied research” directly into his own family business being entirely supported by his wife and daughter. So he can test for himself the saying: „We are all good at theories, by the practice is the difficult part”. He was often asked why did he switch to the private sector. His answer was simple. „In that year, 1994, I thought I could no longer achieve something great in the scientific potato research. The money funds, insufficient as they were, were further reduced and no investments could be made. We no longer had the resources for a correct and competitive research and the future was more and more uncertain. But I wasn’t the only one who escaped from the laboratory directly into the field. I’ve had several examples at that time and the private activity had just started in agriculture and there were farmers who dared to take their faith into their own hands. The actual results of their work in the private area were visible, both through the investments, as well as through the more and more prosperous financial status of their families. I decided then that it is not worth to be distinguished in an inefficient and poorly paid area. I was sad to leave fruitful years of scientific research behind, since in the developed countries it is one of the most profitable investments for the future of each nation”
