Sélection et critères d’admission

Le 18 juin 2021, à sa quarante-deuxième session, la Conférence de la FAO a décidé de créer la plus haute distinction accordée par l’Organisation, qui récompensera les contributions importantes et remarquables à la réalisation des objectifs généraux de l’Organisation, y compris les objectifs du Programme de développement durable à l’horizon 2030.

Nature du prix

  • un parchemin décrivant les réalisations du lauréat et/ou une distinction,
  • la somme de 50 000 USD.

Personnes ou institutions nationales, régionales ou mondiales qui, au cours de la période biennale précédant la Conférence, ont apporté une contribution importante ou remarquable à la réalisation des objectifs généraux de l’Organisation, y compris les objectifs du Programme de développement durable à l’horizon 2030.

 

 

Pour être primée, la personne ou l’institution devra avoir:

  1. apporté une contribution concrète notable à la réalisation des objectifs généraux de l’Organisation, y compris les quatre améliorations et, plus largement, les objectifs du Programme de développement durable à l’horizon 2030;
  2. mis au point des analyses à l’appui de la transition vers des systèmes agroalimentaires plus efficaces, plus inclusifs, plus résilients et plus durables et plaidé avec succès en faveur de mesures cohérentes qui ont été adoptées et appliquées à grande échelle par des gouvernements, des organisations de la société civile et/ou des entreprises privées, dans le cadre de programmes visant à garantir un monde durable où la sécurité alimentaire règne pour tous; et/ou
  3. mis en œuvre des programmes à grande échelle* visant à éliminer la pauvreté et la faim ainsi que toutes les formes de malnutrition et à réduire les inégalités, qui ont eu des effets durables et conformes au Programme 2030.

 

* On entend par programmes à grande échelle des programmes qui impliquent une coopération entre pays au niveau régional ou mondial.

Les procédures et les directives générales à suivre sont les suivantes:

Présentation de candidatures

Les candidatures proposées par des institutions nationales, régionales ou mondiales doivent être adressées à un représentant de la FAO (dans les pays où la FAO a un représentant accrédité), à un représentant régional ou sous-régional de la FAO (dans les pays sans représentant de la FAO accrédité) ou à un directeur au siège de la FAO, selon qu’il convient, afin que celui-ci les soumette au secrétariat des prix de la FAO le 31 janvier 2025 au plus tard. Les représentants nationaux, régionaux et sous‑régionaux de la FAO, ou les représentants résidents du Programme des Nations Unies pour le développement (PNUD) agissant en tant que représentants de la FAO, le cas échéant, peuvent également envoyer des propositions de candidatures, au moyen du formulaire ci-joint, en les adressant directement au secrétariat des prix de la FAO à l’adresse électronique suivante: [email protected]. Si le formulaire de candidature est présenté par une personne ou une institution, il devra être accompagné de l’aval ou de la lettre de soutien d’un représentant de la FAO (courrier électronique ou lettre signée) pour être considéré comme valide. L’ensemble des avals et des lettres de soutien seront vérifiés.

 

L’axe Développement économique et social fournira au secrétariat des prix de la FAO l’appui technique nécessaire, notamment en ce qui concerne l’admissibilité de chaque candidature.

Un comité de présélection spécial, présidé par le Directeur de Cabinet et composé de l’équipe de direction centrale de la FAO, des sous-directeurs généraux du siège et des bureaux régionaux et de la Directrice du Bureau de la communication, qui officiera en qualité de secrétaire, examinera la liste des candidatures soumise par le secrétariat des prix et établira une liste de trois candidatures présélectionnées. Le Président du Comité de présélection soumettra, à l'issue des délibérations de son comité, la liste des trois institutions au Président du Comité de sélection.

Le Comité, présidé par le Directeur de Cabinet et composé du Président indépendant du Conseil, du Président du Comité du Programme et du Président du Comité financier, prendra une décision finale sur la base de la liste soumise par le Comité de présélection.

Le Prix est décerné pour des activités et des programmes dont les résultats ont été particulièrement marquants au cours de l’exercice biennal précédant l’exercice en cours. Le Directeur général remettra le prix au lauréat ou au représentant de l’institution lauréate lors d’une cérémonie spéciale au cours de la 44e session de la Conférence de la FAO, qui se tiendra du 28 juin au 4 juillet 2025.

Le lauréat ou le représentant de l’institution sélectionnée sera invité au siège de la FAO, à Rome, pour la cérémonie, et l’Organisation prendra en charge le coût du voyage.

^ Large scale programmes for fighting hunger and malnutrition are here defined as programmes that involve inter-country cooperation at regional or global level. They can also consist of national or sub-national programmes that have developed particularly successful approaches and inspired replication by other institutions and governments.

Terms and Conditions

By submitting an application on the FAO Awards page (https://www.fao.org/fao-awards/en), all applicants of the FAO Awards hereby acknowledge and agree to the following:

General Provisions

  • No applicants under the age of 18 will be considered for the Awards.
  • Applications will not be considered eligible unless proof of endorsement by an FAO Representative or Director is provided.
  • FAO will not pay any fees, nor pay any costs relating to, participation in the FAO Awards, apart from the prizes outlined for each specific award to the winner/s.
  • Information provided by users who wish to submit an application, when registering via the form will be processed by FAO and stored in the FAO awards page database in accordance with FAO’s corporate procedures, including its Privacy Policy. Such information will be used and may be made available to third parties exclusively for services related to and within the purposes of the FAO Awards page and Features, or FAO institutional activities.
  • FAO reserves the right to verify the eligibility of applicants or that of any entry (including users’ identity and address) and to consider not eligible any application that is not in accordance with these Terms and Conditions or who tampers with the entry process. By submitting entries to the FAO Awards Secretariat, users agree that their Contact and Personal Data may be processed, shared, and otherwise used for the purposes and within the context of the FAO Awards and any other purposes outlined in these Terms and Conditions.

Responsibility of Applicants

  • Users acknowledge and agree that they:
  • will comply with all applicable laws, including, without limitation, privacy laws, intellectual property laws, anti-spam laws;
  • cannot create a false identity, or misrepresent their identity, affiliation with a person or entity, past or present, or their current or previous positions and qualifications;
  • are responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity and security of the information that they provide when accessing the Application Form, including any Contact or Personal Data;
  • Unless otherwise indicated, applicants acknowledge and agree that the material submitted through the Application Form may be reused and redistributed by users for non-commercial purposes, in line with the objectives of the FAO Awards, without requesting prior written permission. Where specific authorization to reuse and redistribute material is required, users must obtain the necessary permission from the respective rights holder(s).

  • Changes to these Terms and Conditions will be posted on this webpage and will be available via the FAO website. By participating in the the FAO Awards subsequent to FAO making available an amended version of these Terms and Conditions, users acknowledge, agree and consent to such amendment(s).
