Fiji’s Ministry of Agriculture embraces World Food Safety Day
On 7 June this year, the Fijian Ministry of Agriculture dedicated itself to ensuring its staff and the general public were not only aware of World Food Safety Day but also that they understood the significance of ensuring food safety “to inspire action to help prevent, detect and manage foodborne risks.”

Federal University of Minas Gerais in Brazil produces an animation video on food safety
Members of the Bromatology Research Group at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the Federal University of Minas Gerais in Brazil have produced an animation video to celebrate the World Food Safety Day. Benin authorities promote World Food Safety Day
The Beninese Food Safety Agency (ABSSA) organized a nationwide celebration of World Food Safety Day for 7 June, to raise public awareness about food safety among the general public and food workers and encourage action to prevent, detect and manage foodborne risks.

Awards given to scientists in virtual seminar hosted by Centre for Quality and Food Safety and Sharda University in India
The Centre for Quality and Food Safety (CQFS) in New Delhi, India celebrated World Food Safety Day on 7 June 2021 in association with Sharda University, Greater Noida, India. The virtual seminar opened with an evaluation of an E-Poster competition that was organized a day before the event for students from various universities in the country. Revised Codex text provides timely guidance on paperless electronic trade
The first virtual session of the Codex Committee on Food Import and Export Inspection and Certification Systems (CCFICS), hosted online by Australia from 31 May to 8 June 2021,discussed and recommended for adoption at the next Codex Alimentarius Commission, a draft guidance document on Paperless Use of Electronic Certificates.
When governments adopt CCFICS standards, they support fair trading practices, protect the health of consumers, and reduce food degradation and waste in international trade.
