The ability to find available, accessible, good quality and up-to-date food composition data is key to ensure appropriate use of the data in various nutrition-related activities, including research, dietary assessment, food labeling, and the development of evidence-based policies and programmes.
This directory of food composition tables and databases (FCDBs) was first compiled by INFOODS in 1988, and has been periodically updated since then. The directory aims to increase access to food composition data by serving as a comprehensive catalogue of published FCDBs at national, regional and international levels. As such, the inclusion of FCDBs in this directory does not imply endorsement or recommendation by FAO or INFOODS.
Users are encouraged to apply the FAO/INFOODS Evaluation Framework to assess the quality of published food composition tables and databases to evaluate and select FCDBs appropriate for their intended purpose.
