In Viet Nam, the project is implemented within the broader framework of the 3R initiative, “Enhancing capacity for Forest and Farm Restoration for climate Resilience, Recovery (3R) and sustainability of agri-food systems in the Northern mountainous provinces of Viet Nam,” focusing on sustainable forest management, climate resilience, and agri‑food system transformation. The intervention builds on the long‑standing engagement of the Forest and Farm Facility (FFF), which has supported forest and farm producer organizations (FFPOs) since 2014 in mountainous regions, reaching approximately 18,000 beneficiaries, including a high proportion of women, youth, and ethnic minority groups.

This project will work with two partners to strengthen the capacity of national‑level FFPOs and training systems to deliver practical, demand‑driven training services to smallholders and rural youth: the Institute of Agricultural Economics and Institution (AEI) under the Vietnam National University of Agriculture (VNUA), and the Agriculture and Forestry Research & Development Center for Mountainous Region (ADC). The approach combines analytical work, institutional strengthening, and field level capacity development, with a strong emphasis on inclusion, climate resilience, and value chain integration. The national-level FFPOs will be trained on:

  • Agroforestry systems

  • Small‑scale forest plantation management

  • Climate‑smart agriculture (CSA)

  • Sustainable land management

  • Biodiversity‑friendly production practices

  • Value chain development and entrepreneurship

ADC has over 30 years of experience in agriculture, forestry, climate change adaptation, and sustainable livelihoods. ADC works closely with farmer groups, cooperatives, government agencies, and development partners, where its experience focuses on implementing training pilots, farmer‑to‑farmer learning approaches (such as Farmer Field Schools), and multi‑stakeholder engagement processes. Its strengths in knowledge documentation, communication, and policy dialogue ensure that field level results are translated into scalable practices and policy impact.
