The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has welcomed the launch of the Call to Action on Integrated Fire Management and Wildfire Resilience today at the Belém Climate Summit ahead of the 2025 UN Climate Change Conference (COP30) in Belém, Brazil.

The Global Fire Management Hub brought the theme of integrated fire management (IFM) to life at FAO’s From Seeds to Foods exhibition in Rome, captivating visitors with an engaging look at how IFM supports resilient ecosystems, sustainable food systems and safer communities.

A two-day hybrid training workshop, co-organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and Kasetsart University in Thailand, brought together more than 50 participants from academia, government agencies, NGOs, and the geospatial research community.

We are well into summer in the Northern Hemisphere, and we are witnessing another severe wildfire season. In May, wildfires were burning throughout Russian Federation’s Far East. In July, wildfires broke out throughout Türkiye, Greece, Cyprus and Bulgaria. Fires continue in Portugal and Spain. In Canada, the blaze has not stopped since April.

From 1 to 3 July 2025, more than 30 fire management experts and government representatives from Cambodia, the Lao People's Democratic Republic, Thailand, and Viet Nam gathered in Siem Reap for the third annual AFFIRM Regional Workshop on Integrated Fire Management, co-hosted by FAO and Cambodia’s Forestry Administration with support from the Asian Forest Cooperation Organization (AFoCO).
