Over 30 participants from local NGOs and government offices across six countries joined a Training of Trainers on Community-Based Fire Management (CBFiM) on January 13-18, 2025, with the aim of strengthening regional capacities, localizing expertise on CBFiM, and promoting knowledge exchange on forest fire management.

The FAO-led Assuring the Future of Forests with Integrated Risk Management (AFFIRM) mechanism has successfully concluded its inaugural regional workshop, marking a significant milestone in collaborative forest management efforts across Southeast Asia.

The Assuring the Future of Forests with Integrated Risk Management (AFFIRM) mechanism , led by FAO with funding from the Republic of Korea, takes a different approach. By integrating risk management strategies, AFFIRM provides countries with proactive, data-driven solutions to anticipate and mitigate threats before they escalate.

The International Soil and Water Forum 2024, held in Bangkok from December 9–11 and co-organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the Royal Thai Government, brought together experts and policymakers from over 60 countries to address pressing challenges in soil and water management within agricultural systems.  

The Mekong-Korea Forest Fire Symposium on “Policy and Regional Cooperation for Forest Fire Management in Southeast Asia” brought together 60 forestry officials, policy experts, and project leaders for three days of impactful collaboration in Cambodia, from November 5 to 7, 2024.
