Prof. Fengying Nie
Foode Security and international cooperation
Prof. Nie Fengying is currently Professor and Director of International Division at Agriculture Information Institute of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (AII of CAAS).
She completed her PhD from CAAS and since then she been involved with various agriculture related policy studies in China and globally. She has led several research programs on food security and nutrition, trade and market, value chain, food policy, food security and poverty, etc. and most of them are studied jointly with UN agencies like FAO, WFP, IFAD, UNDP, CGIAR systems such as IFPRI.
She holds key professional and technical skills for food security research in poor areas of rural China and frequently gives lectures on food security at CASS and other universities in China and abroad. Over the years, her expertise has been also instrumental in replicating the Chinese experience of improving food security situation within food insecure region in China and internationally also. Meanwhile, with the development of agricultural market, Prof. Nie has also contributed several reports on how small holder farmers can benefit from market participation and value chain development in China.
As the leader of “The APEC Food Security Training and Workshop”, Prof. Nie will closely oversee this training program and ensure the quality of the contents under discussion.
