Dr Durgesh Kumar Jaiswal is an Assistant Professor (Research) in the Department of Biosciences at Graphic Era Deemed to be University, Dehradun, India, since September 2023, and serves as Ph.D. Coordinator in the Department of Biotechnology since July 2024. He earned his PPhDin Biotechnology from the Institute of Environment & Sustainable Development, Banaras Hindu University in 2019, following an M.Sc. from M.G.S. University, Bikaner in 2010, and a B.Sc. from DDU Gorakhpur University in 2006, with postdoctoral work via the Dr D.S. Kothari Fellowship at Savitribai Phule Pune University from 2021-2023. His research focuses on agro-microbial biotechnology, developing microbial consortia for pesticide degradation, plant growth promotion, soil health management, biochar technology, and climate-resilient sustainable agriculture. DDrJaiswal has published 76 papers , with an H-index of 24, and an i-10 index of 38, including in high-impact journals such as Nature Climate Change, Nature Microbiology, and Sand Oil Biology & Biochemistry. He leads a Nan MHS-funded project utilising invasive plant biomass for biochar and rural livelihoods in Uttarakhand. Recognitions include AMI Global Ambassador (2024-2025), ASM Future Leaders Mentorship Fellowship (2024-2026), and roles as Associate Editor at Frontiers in Microbiology and editorial board member at PLOS One. He actively mentors PhD, M.Sc., and B.Tech. Students. Students are supervising dissertations on topics like AI in crop disease forecasting and heavy metal bioaccumulation. Additionally, he has filed patents in terahertz detection systems and essential oil extraction methods, and contributed numerous book chapters, reviews, and NCBI sequence submissions.
