Dr. Tigerjeet Ballayram is a trained Economist. He has an undergraduate degree in Economics from the University of Guyana, a Master’s Degree in Development Economics from the University of Notre Dame, and a PhD in Resource Economics (with specializations in environmental economics, agriculture, trade and development), from the University of Florida. 

Dr. Ballayram’s career started with teaching undergraduate and graduate courses at the University of Guyana, University of the West Indies (Mona Campus), and the University of Technology, Jamaica. He later transitioned into the United Nations Organization, as a Food Economist with the Caribbean Food and Nutrition Institution (CFNI), a specialized centre of the Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO). In this capacity, he provided technical cooperation assistance to CFNI’s 18 member countries in the English-speaking Caribbean. Over the past 12 years, Dr. Ballayram has been working as an International Consultant in CARICOM countries, mainly in the areas of food and nutrition security, agriculture, trade, and economic development.
