Partners The Green Climate Fund
Activities
  • The project framed the climate risk context for Moldova’s agriculture sector through comprehensive analysis of climate change impacts, evaluation of climate risks, crop production modeling under RCP 2.6 and 8.5, and a Climate Vulnerability Index based on IPCC AR5 and AR6.
  • The initiative promoted local climate change adaptation by producing community climate profiles, mapping vulnerabilities and risks, identifying and prioritizing adaptation solutions, developing and approving Climate Change Adaptation Plans, and estimating needed resources.
  • The Technology Needs Assessment for climate change adaptation in Moldova’s agriculture sector was implemented in phases across cereals, livestock, horticulture, and aquaculture. It involved technology identification and prioritization, barrier analysis, enabling environment, and Technology Action Plans (TAPs) for 12 prioritized technologies.
  • A Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA) platform was established, focusing on introducing green practices, particularly Conservation Agriculture, to boost local agricultural production and build long-term climate resilience in cereals value chains.
  • The initiative promoted climate investment in Moldova’s agriculture sector by identifying project ideas based on TNA results, formulating a Concept Note for sector adaptation investments, providing insights into financing mechanisms and tools, and developing a pipeline of project ideas.
  • Gender equality and social inclusion were promoted in all activities and deliverables.
