Powering the Future with Forests: A Roadmap to a Circular Bioeconomy

Launch of a new publication:
"Sustainable and Circular Bioeconomy in Forest-based Industries: How to Get There"

Tuesday, 10 June 2025 | 15:00 – 16:30 (CEST) | Virtual

As countries strive to build low-carbon, resource-efficient economies, forest-based industries are at the forefront of delivering sustainable and circular bio-based solutions. This joint publication by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) explores pathways for realizing the potential of forest-based industries within a circular bioeconomy. It highlights enabling conditions, showcases good practices and offers recommendations to support transformation across forest-based value chains.

  • Discover key forest management approaches for sustainable and circular forest-based value chains.
  • Hear from UNECE and FAO experts in forestry and bioeconomy on their activities.
  • Engage in an open discussion on enabling policy and sustainability goals for sustainable and circular forest-based value chains.

  • Raschad Al-Khafaji, Director, FAO Liaison Office with the European Union and Belgium
