The National Consultative Workshop on the Use of Geospatial Solutions for Agricultural Development in The Gambia, organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations took place in Banjul on the 24th October, 2023.

The workshop aimed to facilitate knowledge sharing among national stakeholders on the use of geospatial solutions for agricultural development, focusing on the approach and standards utilized by the FAO in the context of the "Resilience of Organizations for Transformative Smallholder Agriculture Project (ROOTS)." The key outcomes of the event included defining and delimiting the ROOTS project area of interest, identifying indicators for project monitoring, establishing a national land cover legend, data processing, and datasets, planning field campaigns for data collection and validation, and initiating capacity development through geospatial technology training for agricultural development.
