Ukraine sets maximum volume of wheat exports for the 2020/21 season

24/08/2020,

On 17 August 2020, the Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture signed an annex to the grain memorandum with traders, agreeing on the export of a maximum of 17.5 million tonnes of wheat and 1 000 tonnes of rye in the 2020/21 marketing year (July/June). For wheat, this would represent more than 65 percent of the current 2020 production forecast. In the previous marketing year, the volume exported amounted to 21 million tonnes while production in 2019 was estimated at 28.3 million tonnes. Depending on the progress of the season, these thresholds may be revised later in the year. The measures aim to ensure adequate domestic availabilities and preserve food security, also in the context of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
