Georgia lifts temporary restriction on wheat exports

On 6 April 2023, the Government of Georgia lifted a temporary restriction on the export of wheat, which was introduced in July 2022 to ensure the national food security. The decision to end the wheat export restriction, which was intended to be in effect until 1 July 2023, was made by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture on determining that the country held adequate stocks of wheat and wheat flour and in anticipation of the upcoming harvest.
