Indonesia to support rice production

17/09/2015,

The Government of Indonesia has allocated USD 258 million to support rice production in view of ongoing dry conditions, likely linked to the current El Niño event, which have negatively affected the 2015 secondary season crops in several parts of the country. The measure aims to support rice production by allocating funds for procurement from farmers to stock up on Bulog’s rice reserves (USD 103 million) and other price stabilizing measures (USD 153 million) subsequently guaranteeing a market to rice producers and also making domestic rice prices more favorable for consumers.
