South Africa raises duty on wheat imports

13/10/2015,

As of late September, South Africa raised the duty on wheat imports by 78 percent to a record 911.20 rand (USD 66) per tonne. The measure aims at protecting domestic wheat prices following the reduction in international wheat quotations. Domestic wheat prices are also under pressure following the record devaluation of the South African rand against the US-Dollar that occurred at the end of September.
