China to cut the minimum support prices of maize

11/12/2015,

China plans to cut the minimum maize support prices for the 2016/17 crops from 2000 Yuan (USD 313) per tonne to 1800 Yuan (USD 282) per tonne. The new maize support prices will likely be implemented early 2016 before planting starts in March. The measure aims to promote demand for domestic maize, by making it more competitive with imported maize, and thus reduce the excessive stocks that are held in the country.
