Argentina begins implementing free-market policies

As of late December, the new Government of Argentina eliminated the export tax on wheat and maize, previously set at 20 percent and 23 percent respectively. The incoming Government also removed foreign-exchange controls in mid-December leading to a strong depreciation of the national currency, the Argentinean peso, which depreciated by 17 percent from November to December 2015.
