Asian Soil Partnership
The Asian Soil Partnership was established in February 2012 to
enhance collaboration between Member Countries in the region. The partnership aims to facilitate knowledge exchange and overcome differences in information, capacity, investment and environmental challenges faced by countries across Asia. Soils in Asia are under growing pressure from rapid population growth, urban expansion, unsustainable land management, pollution, and climate‑driven extreme weather, all of which accelerate erosion, salinization, nutrient loss and biodiversity decline. Without widespread adoption of sustainable soil management practices, these pressures will continue to degrade already fragile soils, threatening food security for a region where over 2 billion people rely on agriculture for their livelihoods.
