The Health Biosecurity subgroup team within the NFI division provides crucial technical assistance to address various challenges in aquaculture related to health of aquatic orgamisms. This assistance encompasses a wide array of areas, including biosecurity, disease management and sustainable production practices.
The Health Team collaborates closely with governments, organizations, and stakeholders to develop and implement effective strategies tailored to the specific needs of each region or country. By offering expertise, training programs, and guidance, the Health Team supports the advancement of aquaculture sectors worldwide, fostering their resilience, sustainability, and contribution to food security and economic growth.
Our work is focused on the following:

| Development and enforcement early warning, risk management, emergency preparedness and contingency planning for aquatic organism health crises around the world. |
| Guidance of Member countries for the efficient and proper implementation at farm, regional and international level of aquaculture biosecurity policies as for example in developing National or regional Strategies for Aquatic Organism Health. |
| Improvement of knowledge-gathering and knowledge-sharing of aquatic organism health worldwide. |
