Toward the institutionalization of forest data – why management and sharing matter
Institutionalizing forest data means making reliable, shared, long-term information a core part of how countries manage forests. It brings together national forest monitoring systems, clear data standards and roles, quality control, secure storage, open access and interoperability – so observations from satellites and field surveys turn into evidence for policy, planning, finance and reporting under the Paris Agreement’s Enhanced Transparency Framework.
