SCOPE analytical teams

SCOPE analytical teams of technical specialists operate across five regions - Africa, Asia and the Pacific, Latin America and the Caribbean, Europe and Central Asia, and the Near East – including one team dedicated to Small Island Developing States (SIDS). These teams serve as hubs of decentralized expertise, drawing on regional and headquarters technical resources to filter and channel FAO’s vast technical knowledge and enhancing the Organization’s capacity in economic, data and policy analysis at both regional and country levels.

The teams operationalize the three-level analytical approachby linking system diagnostics to the design and implementation of transformative actions at the country level. They connect global public goods with country needs, translate analysis into actionable insights, and support policymakers in integrating evidence into policy and investment decision-making.

SCOPE is led by FAO’s Chief Economist, in close collaboration with the Office of Strategy, Programme and Budget (OSP), headquarters technical units and FAO’s Regional and Subregional Offices. Teams are coordinated by the SCOPE Senior Global Coordinator, Office of the Chief Economist.
