FAO hosts webinar on digitalization of agriculture based on Chinese experience

The Regional Office of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is pleased to invite you to the webinar "Digitalization of agriculture: Chinese experience and the challenges for Latin America and the Caribbean”.
The activity will be held this August 17th, and is part of the efforts of the Triangular South-South Cooperation between FAO, the People's Republic of China, and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), which aims to promote the digitalization of rural areas in the region.
The technical expert on digital agriculture, Mr. Guofu Feng, will talk about the development of the digitalization of agriculture in China, the evolution of connectivity, technology in field, the importance of data and data governance, as well as some recommendations to the Latin American and Caribbean states to address the challenges.
The project "Response and recovery to the impact of Covid-19 on rural livelihoods and food systems in the countries of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) through South-South Cooperation" is being implemented in 12 countries of the region.
The project seeks to help the most vulnerable populations in rural territories and will include sharing urgent and innovative solutions through South-South and Triangular Cooperation (SSTC), such as the digitalization of technologies, services, products and skills.
In this sense, sharing the Chinese experience on digital agriculture will give a relevant context of how to prepare the path for digitalization in LAC’s agriculture, considering the actual challenges and the different stages on the road to digital transformation of agri-food systems.
