HOPE - The Indigenous Peoples' Room at FAO MuNe
The Hope Room offers Indigenous Peoples a platform to share their stories on their own terms. Indigenous Peoples around the world, through their ancestral practices and foundational worldviews, protect life, future generations, and the balance of Mother Earth. For thousands of years, across the seven socio-cultural regions, their food and knowledge systems, rooted in culture, spirituality, and reciprocity with nature have emanated wisdom.
At the center of the room, the spiritual heart connects these seven socio-cultural regions, symbolizing the values of unity, resilience, reciprocity, balance, and the cosmogonic relationship between their knowledge systems and Mother Earth. At the core of the space lies the HOPE they offer the world, shining as a reflection of spirituality, peace, and harmony toward a better future for all.
The food and knowledge systems of Indigenous Peoples, their values and cosmogony, are more relevant today than ever before. They offer solutions grounded in HOPE and a uniquely intergenerational commitment to the well-being of the planet. This hall showcases how, within their territories, Indigenous Peoples' dynamic knowledge systems combine ancestral elements with technology and innovation.
