Project preparation grant (PPG) Inception Workshop - AIBDES

To strengthen biodiversity conservation efforts, from 2020 to 2022, the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (MoEF) conducted a spatial-based nationwide biodiversity inventory and verification. Approximately 23 million hectares were verified as Areas Important for Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (AIBDES) located outside Protected Areas (PAs) that managed by local government authorities or private sectors, with most AIBDES either adjacent or connected to PAs.

The PPG Inception Workshop is carried out to:

• Present the AIBDES project concept that was endorsed by the GEF CEO in December 2024 Work Program to ensure the workshop participants understand the project’s goals, scope and outputs
• Outline processes in the PPG Phase and to obtain an agreed PPG activities and timeline
• Identify key stakeholders to be involved in the Prodoc writing with their roles and responsibilities
