02/12/2021 02/12/2021

On December 2, 2021, the FAO Development Law Service (LEGN), FAO Chile and the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), together as part of the United Nations System in Chile, organized a webinar on the Right to Adequate Food in the new Chilean Constitution.

The event featured three international panellists: Rodrigo Uprimny, Member of the United Nations Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights; Barbara Burlingame, Representative of the High-Level Panel of Experts on Food Security and Nutrition of the Committee on World Food Security; and Michael Fakhri, Special Rapporteur on the Right to Food. Two members of the Constitutional Convention, Matías Orellana and Patricia Labra commented on the presentations.

The Constitutional Convention has the challenge of writing a New Constitution that replaces the one enacted during the dictatorship.
