FAO has since 1986 led efforts to fight hunger and poverty in Malawi. Working closely with the government, FAO renders technical support to the country in the areas of agriculture, forestry and fisheries, focusing on capacity building and promoting improved technologies to increase productivity.
To respond to emerging challenges in the agriculture sector, FAO’s programming focuses on a complete transformation of the agriculture and food systems. Guided by the Country Programming Framework (CPF) of 2024–2028, FAO is implementing various strategic interventions under the following thematic areas of the CPF;
1. Agriculture and food systems transformation
2. Sustainable natural resources and the environment; and
3. Improved resilience, emergency preparedness, response and recovery.
By facilitating the transformation of agrifood systems, FAO aims to enhance these systems to be more efficient, more inclusive, more resilient and more sustainable - for better production, better
nutrition, a better environment, and a better life, leaving no one behind.
