To celebrate the International Year of Millets, the Government of India, Government of Kenya and ICRISAT will be hosting the India-Africa International Millet Conference in Nairobi Kenya.
2023 was declared the International Year of Millets by the United Nations General Assembly at its 75th session in March 2021 following a proposal by India which is the leading millet producing country in the world.
The Conference seeks to raise public awareness about millets which are high in nutrition and can help improve the livelihoods of smallholder farmers in sub-Saharan Africa and Asia.
