FAO “InFARM and its IT Platform” training
The objective of the training was to introduce the FAO InFARM system—a global information platform designed to gather AMR data from the food and agriculture sectors—and to present its objectives, framework, and scope. The training also aimed to provide participants with an overview and basic understanding of how to participate in the system, including the collection, collation, and submission of AMR surveillance data.
The training was organized in collaboration with the General Authority for Veterinary Services (GAVS), and a total of 45 participants from the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry, the State Central Veterinary laboratory, the National Reference Laboratory for Food Safety, the School of Veterinary Medicine of the Mongolian University of Life Sciences, the Institute of Veterinary Medicine, Institute of Plant Protection Research, the aimag and the capital city Veterinary Departments, and other relevant organizations participated.
The training also presented and discussed the results of the AMR surveillance and antimicrobial drug study conducted in the food and agricultural sector with the funding of the FAO ACT project.
It was of great significance that participants were introduced to the InFARM system, which Mongolia aims to participate in, as well as to the results of the AMR surveillance activities that serve as the foundational data for the system.
This training marks an important step in supporting Mongolia to align its AMR surveillance strategies and plans with international standards and recommendations, as well as to participate in the InFARM system and collect and reliable and high-quality AMR surveillance data.to the system.
