FAO in Mongolia partners

Since becoming a member of FAO in 1973, Mongolia has benefited from numerous targeted programs and initiatives aimed at advancing agriculture and rural development. These efforts have included support for agriculture, livelihoods, biodiversity conservation, sustainable forestry, agricultural value chain development, agroecology, and climate-smart practices.

FAO Mongolia emphasizes a collaborative and inclusive approach, working closely with partners to address key challenges while fostering sustainable solutions. Through the framework of the Four Betters—Better Production, Better Nutrition, Better Environment, and Better Life—FAO continues to promote resilience, innovation, and sustainability in Mongolia’s agricultural and rural sectors.

Public Actors

FAO works closely with the Government of Mongolia to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Our efforts focus on strengthening partnerships, particularly with the Ministry of Agriculture and Light Industry, to drive sustainable agriculture and rural development across the country. Additionally, FAO collaborates with the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change to promote biodiversity conservation, sustainable forestry, and agroecology.

These partnerships are integral to advancing Mongolia’s development priorities while ensuring environmental sustainability and resilience in the face of climate challenges.

UN Agencies

FAO is at the heart of the UN development system (UNDS), leading efforts to tackle the world's most pressing challenges related to food and agriculture. To achieve its mandate of ending hunger, FAO collaborates closely with other UN agencies, funds and programmes, leveraging their respective strengths and comparative advantages.
