In response to the escalating threat of forest fires in the Near East and North Africa (NENA) region, the Near East Network on Wildlands and Forest Fire (NENFIRE) held its first coordination meeting on 20 May 2024. The meeting was titled Near East Network on Wildlands and Forest Fire - Enhancing fire management in the NENA region.

في قلب جنوب الأردن، تظهر قصة تمكين رائعة بفضل مشروع الإنتاج المستدام واستخدام الموارد الزراعية الطبيعية في محافظة معان، المنفذ من قبل منظمة الأغذية والزراعة للأمم المتحدة (الفاو) بتمويل من الحكومة الإيطالية من خلال الوكالة الإيطالية للتعاون الإنمائي، تحويل حياة ستين امرأة معيلة في المحافظة.

The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the Ministry of Agriculture launched on Monday the “Green Cities Initiative (GCI): flagship cities for integrated green oases and food systems”, which promotes the support urban forestry and urban greening in Jordan. This project is funded by Italy through the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS).

التقى عدد من ممثلي الجهات ذات المصلحة اليوم في مقر منظمة الأغذية والزراعة للأمم المتحدة (المنظمة) في روما بإيطاليا، للمشاركة في فعالية رئيسية بعنوان "من أجل عقد حوار رفيع المستوى حول الإطار العالمي بشأن ندرة المياه في الزراعة – الاجتماع التحضيري الفني). 

استضافت منظمة الأغذية والزراعة للأمم المتحدة جلسة فنية على هامش مؤتمر الخليج الخامس عشر للمياه الذي نظمته جمعية علوم وتقنية المياه الخليجية في 28 أبريل/نيسان 2024 في الدوحة، قطر. وبحثت الجلسة التي حملت عنوان "تسخير تكنولوجيا الجغرافية المكانية لسد فجوة البيانات من أجل الإدارة الرشيدة للمياه في الزراعة"، كيفية معالجة القضايا المتعلقة بالمياه والزراعة باستخدام الاستشعار عن بعد والتكنولوجيا الجيومكانية.

نظمت منظمة الأغذية والزراعة للأمم المتحدة (الفاو) ورشة عمل حول الحلول القائمة على النظم البيئية واستخدام المياه غير التقليدية لأغراض الزراعة لتسليط الضوء على الحاجة إلى اعتماد أساليب مبتكرة تعطي الأولوية للاستخدام الفعال للموارد المائية وتعزيز صحة النظام البيئي. حيث جمعت ورشة العمل، التي تم تنظيمها في إطار مشروع منظمة الأغذية والزراعة "الحلول القائمة على الطبيعة والبنية التحتية الخضراء لمعالجة تعقيدات الغذاء والمياه والمناخ في الزراعة" بتمويل من وزارة الزراعة والأغذية الزراعية الكندية، ممثلين معنيين بقطاع الزراعة من الحكومة والجهات المانحة والأوساط الأكاديمية والمنظمات غير الربحية. والأردن هي إحدى الدول الرائدة في المشروع.

في إطار الاتفاقية الموقعة بين منظمة الأغذية والزراعة للأمم المتحدة (الفاو) ووزارة الثروة الزراعية والمائية وموارد المياه في سلطنة عمان، وتحت مظلة مشروع “بناء بيئة مرنة وموارد زراعية ومائية مستدامة في سلطنة عُمان”، الممول من قبل صندوق المناخ الأخضر، تم أمس عقد اجتماع تشاوري مع الجهات المعنية في السلطنة بقطاعات الزراعة والمياه والبيئة والتغير المناخي.

Rome, 04 April 2024 – Key stakeholders, including government officials, non-governmental organizations and civil society representatives, project task force members, leading technical experts OCOP Focal Points and FAO staff from 11 project countries convened virtually to launch a new project aimed at expanding the FAO One Country One Priority Product (OCOP) Initiative. The inception workshop, held on 3 April 2024, focused on discussing project objectives, expected outputs and major activities, as well as reviewing the detailed work plan and budget for the project implementation.

القدس/القاهرة -  تقوم منظمة الأغذية والزراعة للأمم المتحدة (المنظمة) بتسليم 150 طناً من مجموع 1500 طن من العلف الحيواني الأساسي إلى 2450 أسرة تربي الماشية في قطاع غزة وذلك بهدف حماية الماشية المتبقية ودعم انتاج الأغذية المغذية محليا مثل الحليب والألبان واللحوم وسط خطر المجاعة الوشيكة في القطاع.

بدعم سخي من مملكتي بلجيكا والسويد، استكملت منظمة الأغذية والزراعة للأمم المتحدة بنجاح حملة تلقيح واسعة النطاق  لمكافحة مرض الجلد العقدي الكتيل (LSD) بهدف حماية جميع أنواع الماشية المنتجة للألبان التي تعود ملكيتها للمزارعين من أصحاب الحيازات الصغيرة في 35 ناحية في محافظتي حلب وإدلب.

The Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), in cooperation with the Ministry of Water Resources, the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, and the Libyan Centre for Remote Sensing and Space Science are launching the “MerWat-Libya” Geospatial Platform. This platform will provide geospatial information to support water resource management in Libya and will enable national partners to access a vast amount of spatial information to support sustainable water and crop production while considering available natural resources.
