As the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) celebrates its 80th anniversary, it remains steadfast in its commitment to addressing global food challenges. In the Near East and North Africa (NENA) region, food security and nutrition continue to be major concerns due to climate change, urbanization and socio-economic factors. To tackle these pressing issues, the FAO Regional Office for the Near East and North Africa (RNE) recently organized a two-day workshop to strengthen the capacities of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in addressing food loss and waste (FLW) and promoting healthy diets.

يواجه اليمن واحدة من أشد الأزمات الإنسانية في العالم، نتيجةً للصراع المستمر، وشح الموارد المائية، والتغيرات المناخية. إذ يحتاج أكثر من  80% من السكان إلى المساعدات الإنسانية، بينما يعتمد حوالي  16 مليون شخص على الزراعة، في وقت تعرضت فيه أنظمة الري لأضرار جسيمة بسبب التدهور البيئي وتأثيرات النزاع. ومع استمرار ارتفاع الطلب على المياه متجاوزًا القدرة المتاحة، تزداد معدلات انعدام الأمن الغذائي، مما يدفع المجتمعات الأكثر ضعفًا إلى مزيد من الفقر.

انعقدت الدورة التاسعة عشرة للجنة تدابير الصحة النباتية في الفترة من 17 إلى 21 مارس 2025 في مقر منظمة الأغذية والزراعة للأمم المتحدة (الفاو) في روما. جمع الحدث خبراء دوليين وصناع سياسات وأصحاب مصلحة لمناقشة مستقبل صحة النبات العالمية. تضمن الحدث جلسات عامة وفعاليات جانبية ومناقشات تقنية، مما عزز تبادل المعرفة بين الأطراف المتعاقدة في الاتفاقية الدولية لوقاية النباتات .

عُقدت اليوم برعاية رئيس مجلس الأمن الغذائي وزير الزراعة المهندس خالد الحنيفات ورشة عمل محورية لمبادرة التقارب بين النظم الغذائية والعمل المناخي بتمويل من الحكومة الهولندية. وتهدف المبادرة، التي أطلقها نائب الأمين العام للأمم المتحدة في المؤتمر الثامن والعشرين للأمم المتحدة المعني بتغير المناخ والتي يتم تنفيذها من قبل مركز تنسيق نظم الأغذية التابع للأمم المتحدة إلى تسريع التقدم نحو أهداف التنمية المستدامة واتفاق باريس من خلال مواءمة هاتين الأجندتين الحاسمتين.
