The FAO through the EU-STREIT PNG Programme in close collaboration with the Cocoa Board of PNG, DAL and Queen Emma Chocolate, a subsidiary of Paradise Foods Limited has successfully connected smallholder cocoa farmers in Yuat LLG of Angoram District, East Sepik Province with chocolatiers from Pacific Cacao 380 in New Zealand. FAO, through the EU-funded STREIT PNG Programme, has provided 60,000 improved vanilla vines to over 1,500 farmers in East and West Sepik. Along with tools and training in climate-smart practices, this support aims to boost production, improve processing and marketing, and strengthen livelihoods in the Sepik region.

FAO’s Gender and Youth Inclusion team under the STREIT PNG Programme continues to train rural farmers on gender in agribusiness, group leadership, and business management at both individual and organisational levels. Recently, over 100 men, women, and youth in Karawap village, East Sepik Province, were trained to strengthen skills for inclusive and effective agribusiness.

The Climate Change and Development Authority highlights progress in climate reporting and introduces a new greenhouse gas inventory archiving system. FAO supports this work through capacity-building to strengthen transparency in agriculture and land-use emissions reporting under the Paris Agreement.
