FAO in partnership with China co-organizes international event focusing on efforts to tackle hunger, malnutrition and inequality
Rome/Beijing - Effective cooperation between countries in the Global South and other development partners is critical in reversing the impact of the global COVID-19 pandemic which is pushing more people into poverty and hunger. This was one of the main messages that resonated today from an international high-level event on South-South and Triangular Cooperation co-organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of the People’s Republic of China.

En el 2022, el Programa de Cooperación Internacional Brasil-FAO cumple 14 años de acciones desarrolladas la región, una alianza exitosa entre el gobierno de Brasil y la FAO que cuenta con la experiencia y las buenas prácticas del país en temas como alimentación escolar y programas de compras públicas de alimentos, agricultura familiar, fortalecimiento del sector algodonero, erradicación del hambre y  pobreza rural, gobernanza responsable de la tierra, seguridad alimentaria y nutricional, políticas públicas agroambientales y acuícolas.

Сегодня Продовольственная и сельскохозяйственная организация Объединенных Наций (ФАО) с благодарностью приняла взнос Германии в размере 20 млн евро на цели спасения жизней и средств к существованию фермеров и пастбищных скотоводов, которые больше всех пострадали от засухи в регионе Африканского Рога. Этот важный взнос поступил в критический момент реализации ответных мер в связи с чрезвычайной ситуацией, вызванной засухой.

Since 2020 and building up on almost 30 years of corporate commitments, FAO has worked on updating its approach to supporting South-South and Triangular Cooperation (SSTC), which has been translated in the new SSTC Guidelines for Action. The new guidelines emerge as part of the new FAO Strategic Framework and also respond to global frameworks, including the new System-Wide Strategy for SSTC of the United Nations.  Moving beyond strategic planning, FAO is now drafting practical guides and tools for its staff to plan for and use SSTC as a key delivery mechanism of its Strategic Framework. 09/02/2022 The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (MAFRA) of the Republic of Korea, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the Government of the Republic of the Philippines have signed an agreement formalizing their partnership to undertake a global initiative that will support the strengthening of the country’s rice value chains through capacity building and policy development.
